The QEH Yuletide Gala & Auction will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at Delta Hotels by Marriott Prince Edward. This will be a great night with an even greater impact – supporting the health of Islanders. With your help, we hope to fund several pieces of equipment needed in the QEH Endoscopy Unit.

Ticket holders will have access to bid on many wonderful items donated to our auction which will take place during our in person event.

Funds raised through the 2024 Yuletide Gala Auction will help support the purchase of priority medical equipment needed in the QEH Endoscopy Unit. Notably among them is the GI Genius, a state of the art AI system designed to assist doctors by identifying polyps during procedures.

The use of this advanced technology can boost the adenoma detection rate by 30%. This higher detection rate means more polyps are found and removed earlier, reducing the risk of them developing into cancer.

What are the details of the event?

Join us at Delta Hotels by Marriott Prince Edward on Saturday, November 23 for the 2024 Yuletide Gala Auction with presenting sponsor Cavendish Farms. The evening will feature a delicious, Island-grown meal, live entertainment, and exciting live and silent auctions.

Cocktail reception begins at 6:00 pm.

Dinner begins at 7:00 pm.

What will this event support?

Funds raised through this year’s event will help support the purchase of priority medical equipment needed in the QEH Endoscopy Unit. Notably among them is the GI Genius, a state of the art AI system designed to assist doctors by identifying polyps during procedures. Using this technology can boost the adenoma detection rate by 30%. This higher detection rate means more polyps are found and removed, reducing the risk of them developing into cancer. By detecting and removing these polyps early, we can help keep Islanders healthier and prevent the onset of cancer. 

Will there be live entertainment?

Yes! We’re excited to share that this year’s event will feature live entertainment by PEI’s premiere funk and soul band, Lady Soul. This high-energy 9-piece ensemble will have you singing and dancing the night away!

Is there a dress code?

Yes, we consider the QEH Yuletide Gala Auction the event of the year! Dress code is cocktail attire.

Where do I buy tickets?

You can buy tickets online by clicking here or by calling our office at (902) 894-2425

Do I get a charitable tax receipt for my ticket purchase?

Yes, with no prize potential as part of the ticket, guests will receive a charitable receipt component to the ticket cost. Charitable receipts are issued following the event so that auction results can be shared with you as well.

For 2024, the ticket cost is $250 per person with a $125 charitable receipt.

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are non-refundable.

What is a Friend of the Gala?

Friend of the Gala is another way you can support the Gala charitably. There are benefits to each level and you are eligible for a charitable receipt. To learn more, click here.

Can I sit with my friends?

We want you to sit with your friends too for an enjoyable evening. The sooner you buy your tickets, the more likely that will be. Tables are for 8 people. We strongly encourage you to purchase your tickets early and state your intended table guests. We’ll hold the seats up to 14 days prior to the event at which time we’ll release seating.

AUCTION

Can anyone bid of the silent auction items?

All auction items are available to bid by those who have purchased tickets and registered for our Gala Auction event. Bids will be placed using the Auctria app on your smart phone. Instructions for bidding and the catalogue of items will be provided by email in the week prior to the event. Bidding for silent auction items will begin November 16 for registered guests only. Bidding will continue throughout the evening of the live event.

How will I know what I’m bidding on?

Detailed descriptions and pictures will be included with each item on Auctria.

How do I pay for items I win?

We will charge the total amount of your bidding success to your registered credit card.

Do I receive a charitable tax receipt if I purchase medical equipment items from the auction?

Yes. Many priority medical equipment items are up for bid in our auction again this year. If you purchase any of these items you will not only be directly supporting the QEH, you will receive a tax receipt for the full amount of your bid.

Do I receive a charitable tax receipt if I purchase other items from the auction?

Generally, items purchased for personal use are not eligible for a tax receipt. However, auction packages that are purchased at a minimum 125% over stated value are considered under CRA guidelines as charitable intent. The purchaser will receive a charitable receipt for the charitable intent portion. Example: Dining Package valued at $1,800 is purchased for $5,000. ($1,800 x 125% = $2,250). $5,000 meets that threshold. Therefore, the $5,000 bid will receive a charitable receipt for $3,200. In the past, our live auction items did not have stated values. Since 2020, this is an extraordinary additional value to our generous Gala Auction bidders!

How do I bid on auction items?

There will be Live and Silent auctions items available. The silent auction will open on November 16 and ticket holders will receive an email with instructions on how to access bidding using the Auctria App on your personal device. Bidding kiosks will also be available on site during the event. Detailed descriptions and pictures will be included with each item on Auctria. Auction items will also be on display at the event. Live auction will be done by raising paddle numbers at the event.
